Golf Instruction

Year-round instruction focuses on providing the best growth opportunities for junior golfers – not just as golfing athletes, but as future community participants and leaders.  From the basics of putting and chipping to full-swing mechanics, our instructors utilize proven techniques to build the habits and patterns that instill confidence and skill.

Patrick Parrish, PGA

Patrick Parrish has had a lifelong passion for golf. He was one of California’s top-ranked junior golfers and after high school he was offered a spot by Eddie Merrins to join the no.1-ranked UCLA Bruins golf team playing alongside future PGA Tour stars Corey Pavin, Steve Pate, Duffy Waldorf and Tom Pernice, Jr. After receiving a Master’s in English Literature at UC Berkeley, Patrick played a short time on the Nike Tour and Asian Tour. He discovered that his true love for golf is in the successful development of players.

Patrick has served as a board member since 2007 and has been honored twice as The AT&T Pebble Beach Junior Golf Association “Golf Professional of the Year” award. He has served as the association’s director of instruction for 10 years. He fondly remembers his junior golf days and carries over this passion in his coaching of juniors, hoping they will find their own love for the game. Patrick currently serves as Director of Tournaments and Instruction at The Club at Pasadera.

Katherine Marren, PGA

Katherine Marren is the Director of Instruction at Quail Lodge Golf Academy in Carmel Valley.

Falling in love with the game as a youngster, Katherine found access to golf, instruction and tournaments very limited. She joined the board of the AT&T PB JGA to make golf more accessible, fun and enjoyable for our local junior golfers. She has been named the 2008 NCPGA Teacher of the Year, Golf Digest Top in State Teacher, and Golf for Women Top 50 Teacher.

Katherine embraces the coaching philosophy of "Building Champions for Life through Sport" in her junior golf programs and instruction. Integrity, perseverance, honesty, dedication, passion and good sportsmanship are integral life skills for success in both golf and life.
