Dear Members,

“Birdies for Charity” is a unique fundraiser for AT&T Pebble Beach Junior Golf’s teaching programs provided for 7-17 year old boys and girls in Monterey County, supported by the Monterey Peninsula Foundation.  Individuals can pledge funds to AT&T PB Junior Golf Association.  To guess the number of birdies to be made by PGA Tour players during the 2008 tournament February 7-10, 2008, call our Association to receive an authorized pledge form.

The person who guesses the correct number of birdies wins a grand prize of a Norwegian Cruise Line 7-day cruise for two to the Mexican Riviera in an ocean view state room.  Other great prizes will be awarded through random drawings, including:  one night stay at The Inn at Spanish Bay and golf package, 32 inch Sony Bravia TV and XM Radios with 3 months service. Funds will aid the AT&T PB Jr. Golf Association

A ten percent bonus will be made to the AT&T Jr. Golf Association on all donations made. THE AT&T PEBBLE BEACH JUNIOR GOLF ASSOCIATION’S 16TH ANNUAL INVITATIONAL GOLF TOURNAMENT and awards reception was held Tuesday, November 13th 2007, at Del Monte Golf Course with guest speaker, Johnny Miller.  This year it was a huge thrill to have held our event in partnership with the Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed an incredible afternoon of camaraderie playing a round of golf with PGA and LPGA golf professionals who shared their time and talent during the tour.  This would not have been possible without the enormous generosity of Rich Patterson, the Callaway Invitational, Pebble Beach Company and our valuable sponsors and contributors.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO DEL MONTE GOLF COURSE, FOR HOSTING OUR EVENT.  TO HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL NEIL ALLEN, AND PATRICK FREEMAN, FIRST ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL AND THE ENTIRE STAFF WHO HELPED MAKE THE DAY SUCH A SUCCESS!  WE LOOK FORWARD TO OUR 16TH ANNUAL GOLF FUNDRAISER EVENT THIS YEAR.

Our thanks to 90 generous fun-loving golf participants, and our awesome volunteers:  Dick Falge,  Maggie Dean, Rosalie Gorman, Debra DeMers, Jim Langley, Anna Mitchell, Debbie Rees,  Frank and Charles Bartholomew, our photographer, Patrice Ward and all our exceptional Board of Directors.  All of you made this a very special and worthwhile occasion. Following the tournament, a reception, silent/live auction and awards presentation was held.

This year our “AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR AWARD” WAS AWARDED TO OLLIE NUTT, PRESIDENT OF THE MONTEREY PENINSULA FOUNDATION,  FOR HIS ON GOING SUPPORT AND DEDICATION TO OUR JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAM.

“THE GOLF PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR” WAS AWARDED TO GRETCHEN HAUSMANN.  GRETCHEN IS A PAST PRESIDENT OF OUR BOARD AND IS ALSO HOLDS THE POSITION OF “CHAIR” OF OUR SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE.

Our Heartfelt Thanks

The AT&T Pebble Beach Junior Golf Association is sincerely grateful to The Monterey Peninsula Foundation’s long-term support. They continue to play an essential role in the growth and success of our association.

We would also like to express our appreciation by thanking the many people and businesses who have graciously supported our programs. We want you to know how much this means to us, for it would be difficult to continue without you. We welcome you to attend our events.

Our sincere thanks to Bill Sendell, Head Golf Professional at Spyglass Hill Golf Course, AT&T Pebble Beach Junior Golf Board Member and our Summer Tournament Director, who continues his fantastic job of making sure each tournament is well run and enjoyed by all. Bill’s assistant this year is Tobin Barth.

We also thank Golf Professional and Board member, Justin Russo, who manages all our Skills Evaluation and Instructional Clinics at Rancho Cañada and is our Winter Golf Tournament Director. We have divided each junior by skill level to make it equitable for all players and to encourage the spirit of competition. All junior golfers who wish to compete in our Junior Tournaments are required to complete a skills evaluation test.

We would like to thank the Peter Hay Golf Course, Rancho Cañada Golf Club, Laguna Seca Golf Club, Del Monte Golf Course, Pacific Grove Golf Course, Corral de Tierra Golf Club, Golf Club at Quail, Poppy Hills Golf Course, Carmel Valley Ranch, The Preserve Golf Course, Links at Spanish Bay and Spyglass Hill Golf Course for hosting the “Summer Tournaments.” The facilities were top notch, the courses terrific and the staff was gracious and accommodating. We cannot express fully how much these tournaments mean to the kids.

As you know, none of our events would be possible without the assistance of our dedicated volunteers. Words can’t say enough of how very grateful we are to all of you who answer the call to help register and score for our ongoing tournaments.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Junior Golf Association thanks the Monterey Herald and Nick Nelson for printing so many wonderful articles recognizing our many junior golfers who throughout the year have appeared and placed in competition on the links. Congratulations! Please visit our website at attpbjrgolf.com for all final results of our tournaments.

Thank you all for your continued support.

We are proud that for 19 years our program has had a significant impact on shaping the life styles of so many junior golfers, by helping them realize the positive rewards that come from playing golf and the reason for playing, the participation itself. Our continuing goal is to develop not only better golfers, but also better people.

We give special thanks to all our volunteers who generously donate their time throughout the year. The success and quality of our Junior Golf program continues to be the result of many dedicated and interested people.

For our tournaments to continue to succeed, there is a vital need for individuals, (parents, adults and older junior golf students) to score for the bronze and silver divisions. We recognize that some of you are happy and willing to volunteer but may not feel qualified to score therefore this year we are offering training.

For more information please call - 625-1555, or e-mail us at……… pbjrgolf@ix.netcom.com

“The Payne Stewart Youth Golf Clinic” held at the Driving Range on Saturday, February 2nd,  at the Pebble Beach Driving Range was an exciting event.  Kids and adults who gathered around the ropes were fascinated by golf entertainer, Dan Boever.  Comedian George Lopez’s visit was also a very enjoyable added attraction for everyone present.
